On the national level, the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) oversees trainee/resident education programs and receives periodic reports on various aspects of trainee activity throughout the year.

Associate Chief of Staff for Education
Has oversight of affiliate training programs; works with individual academic program coordinators and the Boston VAMC leadership to develop and enhance programs to ensure they provide a quality education to trainees and supports the VHA mission. The ACOS/E processes affiliation agreements, supports associated health trainee programs, facilitates entry and exit processing, monitors national education requirements and regulations, collects program support data and reports to the OAA.

Develops and implements faculty development programming at the local, regional, and national levels.
Develops initiatives to enhance the education and training environment for learners and faculty.
Develops and integrates learning curricula and assessments of learning in VA Boston training programs.
Laura Fiore, PA-C MPAS
Director of Physician
Responsible for the management, structure, coordination and evaluation of the VA Boston PA Clinical Trainee Program, ensuring the program complies with national accrediting body standards of sponsoring affiliated institutions while activities are being held at VA Boston HS. Focused on developing, implementing and enhancing PA trainees clinical rotations to provide a broad knowledge base of clinical and interprofessional educational experiences. The program currently supports 5 PA Program affiliates with over 175 PA trainees.
Performs administrative, evaluative, and technical work for the
ACOS-E. Duties include matters requiring wide latitude of
independent judgment in performing work of unusual difficulty and responsibility for the Boston Healthcare System.
Duties that require a mastery of advanced management and organizational principles and practices along with a comprehensive management of budgeting, administrative and health system knowledge, rules, regulations, guidelines and managerial skills in the management and administration of a multitude of training programs.
VA employee for almost 40 years, assists with booking conference rooms, VANTS and PicTels. ECAR planning team member. Complies with accepted safety procedures by working in a safe manner. Accurately updates PIV (resident's applications). Submits reports to OAA. Reviews every Credentialing application.
PA Trainee Program Support Assistant. Ensures all PA trainees are credentialed, paid and cleared in a timely manner. Reviews budgeting of Education Fund control points. Prepares obligations for education office. Manages the education budgets and disbursement agreement expenditures. Tracks and processes all employee training payments and reimbursements. Maintains ACOS-Education wiki page. TMS, CME and ADPAC administrator.
